The most fitness fun I've had in years! Stop thinking about it and join the fun.
Great to drop in for a week while on vacation. Excellent box, coaching and community. Five stars...bam!
Best programming, best coaches, best owners, best people, and to top it off a GREAT environment so many of us call home for at least an hour a day.
Great atmosphere and super helpful coaches/owners. Great place to drop in and do a WOD. Online registration is real easy also. Did it all from my iPhone.
Absolutely amazing Box! Trained here while I was on holidays back home. They welcomed me with open arms and all of the people I had the pleasure of meeting were so kind-hearted. If you're looking for an amazing experience, I definitely recommend First City Crossfit!
I love working out at first city! Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Frank and the coaches are knowledgeable and scale workouts for all athletic abilities. They always push me to get the most out of my workout. Fun enviorment, couldn't ask for a better place to go kick my butt and get a good sweat on!
My husband and I were travelling through California and rocked up at FCCF, uninvited one evening. We're so pleased we did. They were one of the most welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable boxes we went to on our holiday. Beyond letting us jump in the WOD, they helped us out with dinner and hotel ideas. CF inter-community at it's very best. Stop by if you're in the area.
I used to go to the gym and do the same thing all the time - weights, cardio and classes. I got bored doing the same thing. Then I found First City and every workout is different, even if certain workouts are incorporated into a workout that you did last week, there's a spin to it and still challenges you. I go to the 6am class and my coach, Matt, is always there to help me with my form and help with certain areas that I struggle with. Getting up early to go to class is a struggle, but I'm always happy that I go!
I've been at First City for a year now. I came in with very little Crossfit experience and within a year I have improved tenfold due to the amazing coaching and programming at FCC. I've gained 15LBs and had to go up a shirt size. Anyone that says crossfit is detrimental to gains is a flat out liar. I challenge anyone of any shape, size or age to come in and commit to 6 months of crossfit. It will change your life.........maybe even save it.
After 10 workouts, the First City CrossFit program gets a solid 10 from me. Every session is divided into thirds, 1. a thorough warm up, 2. an intense workout, and 3. a whole body stretching cool down. All in an hour. Perfect for me. Many of the exercises are new to me, but fully explained and demonstrated. I love that during the workout portion, EVERYBODY is kicking a**, no matter what their fitness level. The welcoming and encouraging environment is the top draw here.
All of the coaches at First City CrossFit are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They are extremely passionate, helpful and encouraging. The facility is always clean, the equipment is in fantastic condition and the childcare is a great bonus. Hands down the best place to workout on the peninsula. If you are new to CrossFit I highly recommend attending the foundations class during your free trial--it is very informative.
Every member of the staff is great at making you feel welcome and comfortable but they will push you too. They're here to help you safely push your limits. My first class I was a little nervous but Kyle really took the time to be right there with me, patiently giving me advice and making sure I was good to go. At the end the owner took the time to find me and welcome me and offer his assistance. I'm stoked from my experience. My ass is whooped, but stoked!
So glad I listened to the reviews and joined this box. Everyone has been so welcoming and encouraging and my kids absolutely love the child care. The equipment is top of the line and the coaching staff is too. I have learned more in the past few weeks than I did during the 8 months at my last box. The coaches take their time with all the athletes to make sure everyone knows each lift and has proper form. The WOD's are challenging, but so rewarding. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to any athlete at any level.
I've been going to FCCF since they opened and haven't looked back. Amazing facility, knowledgeable coaches and a NON-intimidating culture. They've cultivated a great community amongst all levels of athletes and truly want to see you be your fittest self! Oh, and they have CHILDCARE! 🙂 Huge for me. They give a free week trial for you to see if it's a good fit for you (it is) and have very competitive membership rates for Crossfit gyms. They even offer a military discount! Love this gym.
I highly recommend First City Crossfit for anyone who is interested in beginning Crossfit. My wife was very hesitant at first, but the owner Frank really made the whole journey enjoyable. After our first class we were sold and wanted to sign up right away. However, Frank told us he was in no hurry to sign us up and that we should use the free trial period to really make sure this was the place for us. Essentially, he was telling us that he doesn't need to sell us hard on joining. Because, the programming, coaches, and fellow athletes are what really make this gym great. So, put down your soda and get off the couch and give the guys at First City Crossfit a chance.
Ok. So I've waited a while before reviewing. I've been a member of FCC for a few months now. I had two kids in two years down in GA. My box there was amazing and got me started on this journey of Crossfit. I was devastated when I had to leave that family of athletes and was worried about finding another. FCC (owners, coaches and members) have all been so amazing and this box has and is continuing to take me to better levels or strength and fitness. First city has made me more confident in my appearance and overall wellness than I felt even before kids. You will LOVE it here. It's fun, welcoming, challenging and the people and coaches will motivate you to succeed past your expectations. wink emoticon So happy I found this place.
I adore First City Crossfit. I can't imagine a better team than Frank and all the trainers there -- tough, knowledgeable, caring and kind. Several of my friends have said "Oh, I'd have to get in shape before starting CrossFit." That's just not true. The beauty of having a great trainer at CrossFit is that no matter where you are in your fitness journey -- even if you're at ground zero -- the workout can be scaled to where you are and you'll get as much out of it as the person who's lifting heavy and speeding through their pushups. I started with some shoulder injuries and Frank has really helped me get better and stronger. And to top it all off, all the people who go to class here are great, too. It's a great community and a great workout!
First City CrossFit is an amazing place to work on your fitness. Everything is explained in detail so you never feel "lost". You can go at your own pace, so it's perfect for beginners or more seasoned fitness buffs. But don't let that fool you, they will help push you through to accomplish things you never thought you would be able to do. Everyone is supportive and welcoming. I have been going for 3 months now and have noticed dramatic (good) changes in my body and improvements on my fitness goals. In each class, the group warms up together, gets the workout done and cools down together. Because of this, you get proper instruction on the movements and you get to know each other. The First City CrossFit group is definitely my second family. They also have a kids corner for little ones to hang out/play while parents get fit. So no excuses, come on and try it out. You WILL be hooked!
If you're looking for a place to exercise but are worried about fitting in, First City Crossfit is the place for you! Expect great workouts in an inclusive and supportive environment. I'd tried Crossfit before at a previous duty station but was turned off in less than a month by the attitude of the the gym coaches. It felt like they were trying more to build competitors for the Crossfit games and less to help me get stronger/healthier/better at my own level. The other gym treated my like they were doing me a favor by letting me work out there. Not so at First City Crossfit! The owner, Frank, and his coaches are very attune to the challenges that I have as a relatively new person to Crossfit and they encourage me at the level I'm at, not where they envision their patrons should be. The crowd that comes for the workouts speaks volumes, with all skill levels and body types imaginable, all with one thing in common: the desire to exercise and get healthier. I'm nowhere near the strongest or the fastest, but in the five weeks I've been visiting FCCF I'm already stronger, faster, and more energized now than I was when I started. As terrible as my earlier experience was, my time at First City Crossfit has been outstanding! If you've ever considered seeing what Crossfit is about, let Frank and his team at First City Crossfit get you started!
Folks, I'm a veteran of two deployments and years of wearing heavy gear and bouncing around in tanks and HMMWVs. My back paid the price for it. A couple years ago I finally came to grips with the fact that I would go to bed and wake up with back pain as a regular part of life. It's been that way since 2009. I've been coming to First City for almost two months now. While I am no stranger to the gym or physical fitness, I've never followed a program like Crossfit. So, I was skeptical and unsure if it was worth my time and money. I was more concerned that the weightlifting would cause even more back trouble, but decided to trust some friends and try the program. It is easy to see now, but I didn't even realize what has been happening. My back pain has been slowly going away as my core has become stronger. This past Friday night I laid down and realized that for the first time in years, I wasn't gritting my teeth from the pain that always accompanied my body settling into bed. I am moving, driving, and just living with far less discomfort than I was only two months ago. Too soon to call it a cure, but soon enough to stay motivated with these results. If you are considering a Crossfit program, please give First City a try. Frank offers a week for free, and I took him up on it. If you'd like to discuss my experience more, please message me. Thanks to Joey, Matt, Frank, Michael, and others that have taken the time to help me learn and improve.
I found this place on Yelp a few weeks ago and decided to give it a shot…and I’m SO glad I did! Here is why…I always thought Crossfit is like running or red wine...people either love it or hate it. I have to admit that I never had a good impression towards Crossfit. I actually tried it a few times at 2 different gym years ago, and I didn’t have a good experience. Also I’ve worked on rehab for a client of mine who got injured from it (I’m a personal trainer). I used to compete in Powerlifting. After I got tendonitis, I switched my training to a more isolating-bodybuildi
ng type routine. Bodybuilding has its beauty and I’m not saying which is better, etc. but I could never get back into bodybuilding completely (Please refer the article "Bodybuilding Geek to Crossfit Newb" on T-nation. It's on the point of where my mind is-even though I’m definitely not that into bodybuilding compared to the author.). I missed being functional and doing performance-based training. Thank you to FCCF for having a fantastic coaching style and coaches. I can’t speak for every personal trainer, but to me and most of my co-workers, the biggest problems we had with Crossfit were injury from improper form and intensity beyond an individual’s capability. Well, this place actually focuses on form and mobility, and coaches regress or progress exercises based on their fitness level. People are very nice and I’m constantly inspired by amazing athletes. Not only am I truly enjoying the workouts here, but also I would totally recommend this place to anyone.
